Mary Kay King beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Dayton, TN.
Kay was born May 19, 1943 in Shaw Ms. to Gaddis Elmer Dyson and Sally Lourena Canoy Dyson. Kay held the unique position, along with her identical twin sister Faye, of being last of eight children born.
Raised in rural Mississippi she often referred to her childhood as “the days on the farm”. She looked upon this time of her life with great fondness. Kay accepted Christ at an early age, and though she was successful in many areas of her life, her highest achievement was her prayer life.
Kay loved music and the art of writing songs and poems. She had several opportunities of finding great success in getting songs recorded in her early years though life never lined up in her favor. She was a great singer, cook, baker, and seamstress. She loved to travel and try new adventures.
Kay married Larry King of Dayton, TN October 5,1992. Her and Larry were together as faithful companions until her passing. Kay is survived by her husband Larry King, sons Kevin Eason of Lafayette, La., Jeff Eason and his wife Kim of Woodburn, Iowa, sisters Juanita Yoder and her husband Walter of Shawnee, OK, Patricia Smith of Greenville, MS and beloved twin sister Faye Finkle of Greenville, MS. 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren one sister-in-law Joyce Dyson of Oklahoma and one step-son
Stephen King of Knoxville TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gaddis Elmer Dyson and Sally Lourena Dyson, brothers Howard Dyson, Earl Dyson and Delbert Dyson sister Pauline Chiara her only daughter Debra Kay Shelton and one son Leslie Austin Syskes, sister-in-law Virginia Dyson and brother-in-law Raymond Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Eason and the Rev. Kevin Eason officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2020 at Bowers Funeral Home.
