Robert Lee Moon, age 99, of Cleveland and formerly of Decatur, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at Bradley Healthcare and Rehab.
Mr. Moon was born in Meigs Co. on October 28, 1920 the late Jacob and Ethel Hood Moon. He was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church, the Meigs Masonic Lodge #213, and the Scottish Rite, Chattanooga, TN. He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II.
He was preceded in death by is wife of 58 years Cora Bess Moon, a son Bobby Moon, a granddaughter Patsy Green, brothers: James, Harvey, John A., Nathaniel, and Agnew Moon, and his sisters: Agatha Moon, Dorothy Whitehead, Margaret Kelley, Julia Lee Maddux, and Phyllis Shelton.
Survivors include his children and their spouses: Raymond and Helen Moon, Billy and Anna Lee Moon all of Decatur, Paula and Charles Thompson of Ten Mile, a sister Mable McKenny of Nashville, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and a host of other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home at 3 PM Sunday, December 8, 2019 with the Reverend Earl Graves officiating. The interment will follow in the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2 - 3 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
