Joseph Earl WIllett Long time resident of Lake Placid, Florida, Joe Willett passed away Feb 8, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife Elinor Willett. Mr. Willett spent 26 years in the service of his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1940 as a private and retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1966. During that time Joe received several decorations including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. After retiring from the Air Force, Joe and Elinor lived near Spring City, Tennessee for seven years and then moved to Lake Placid, Florida where they lived for nearly 30 years. After Elinor passed away, Joe moved to Kingston, Tennessee where he has lived for the past 2.5 years. Joe had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing, enjoyed gardening and became an avid golfer after moving to Florida. He is survived by his children, Michael and wife, Martha Willett of St Paul, Minnesota and Rebecca and husband, David Henderson of Kingston, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Benjamin(Gudrun) Willett, Emily (Paul) James, Margaret Henderson, and Diana Henderson, and Great Grandchildren, Sebastian Willett, Connor James and Clayton James. Mr. Willett will buried at the National Cemetery at Bushnell, Florida. Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur, Tennessee is in charge of the arrangements.
